Homeschool, all planned out.
A full school year for Kindergarten to Grade 12, in your language. Every week is ready for you: lesson videos, then worksheets, homework, Friday quizzes and unit tests your kids do right on the site, graded for you, on a calendar with due dates. Nothing to print.
Report cards, transcripts and diplomas are issued by your home school. Smart Chalk is your curriculum, not an accredited school. What that means
A whole school year
36 weeks for each subject, planned in order: Math, English, Science and History, plus Geography, Art, Music, Health and Technology if you want them. Two lessons a week per subject, with online worksheets, homework and a Friday quiz, and a test at the end of every unit.
Done online, graded for you
Every lesson has a short chalkboard video, from our library and YouTube channel, or made for you when you open that week. Then your child does the guided notes, vocabulary, homework and quizzes on the site, and they're graded right away. Prefer paper? Everything can be printed too.
Your family, your pace
Up to 6 children, each in their own grade and language, and a different level per subject if they need it (a quick placement check helps). Swap in your own topics, take weeks off, and keep attendance logs, portfolios, report cards and an end-of-year certificate. $19.99 a month, cancel any time.
Not sure what your child should learn this year? See what each grade learns, week by week, with an easy way to help at home for every lesson.
You're your child's teacher: Smart Chalk is the curriculum, and you run your home school. Check your state's homeschool rules (some ask you to file a notice or keep records). Smart Chalk isn't an accredited school, so the certificate is from your home school.
Questions about diplomas and records
Is the diploma real?
Yes, but it comes from your home school, not from Smart Chalk. In most US states, a homeschooling parent runs the school, so a diploma the parent signs is a real high school diploma. It is not a diploma from an accredited school.
Is Smart Chalk an accredited school?
No. Smart Chalk is a curriculum and set of tools: lessons, videos, worksheets, quizzes, grading and records. You're the teacher. We don't enroll students, and we don't issue or sign diplomas, transcripts or report cards. We make them for you to fill in and sign.
Will colleges and employers accept it?
Many colleges, employers and the military accept homeschool diplomas, especially with a transcript, test scores (like the SAT or ACT) and a portfolio of work. Some colleges, scholarships, the NCAA (college sports) and some jobs ask for an accredited diploma or extra proof. If your child has a goal in mind, check with that college or program early.
What do I need to do for my state?
It depends on your state. Some ask you to send a notice, keep attendance, test each year, or have a teacher review a portfolio; a few have rules about homeschool diplomas. Smart Chalk's attendance log, portfolio, report cards and transcripts help with the records, but following your state's law is up to you. Your state's education department or a homeschool association can tell you what's needed. We're not lawyers, so this isn't legal advice.
